Asics '06

Most of Asics shoes will be updates. They are using a new EVA called Solyte in the Kayano and the Evolution. Both shoes are lighter. The Evolution (motion control light) is much lighter, but is a little more stable.

The big news is the Gel-Kinsei. It will be Asics premier cushion shoe. It is noticeably softer than the Nimbus (assuming the sample accurately represents the production model). The heel looks a little Shox-like. The heel gel is slightly firmer on the medial side for some stability. They call the heel a "discrete heel unit" Under the heel is a resin cradle to hold and support the foot. The midsole has the most gel of any of their shoes. Surrounding the gel is the new Solyte eva. The upper uses their Spacemaster material. It improves moisture movement, breathability, and UV protection.

Running with a Kinsei on one foot and a Nimbus on the other the two things I noticed was the super soft heel strike and the light weight. The Solyte midsole is very light. We will see how durable.

Oh yeah, the price. Are you sitting? Take a deep breath. Now exhale.

$165.00

OUCH!!!!!

The shoe will be released to specialty gold accounts 2/01/06 and then to general gold accounts in May or June.

If you have any questions about a specific model let me know.

Take it easy!

Try the Wave Rider. I have always liked the ride of the Rider better than the Mustang (at least for my feet).

You could also try the deluxe Wave Creation. It has more of everything (including price). It is heavier and not as fast feeling but a nice shoe.

The Cumulus (Asics) and the Radius (Brooks) are also good choices.

A lot of Mizuno wearers seem to like Asics (the other way also).

One of my employees has been using the Radius and really likes it.

Of the shoes I mentioned my favorite is the Wave Rider.

You may still be able to find some Mustangs around, but I don't think that many places carried it.

I'm a big fan of the Brooks Addiction series...can you discuss similar shoes or any updates that they're doing to the shoe this year? I have both the road and the trail version...and finally, no more aches and pains in my feet!

If you like the Trail Addiction get some now! It is going away. Too bad, I really liked that shoe. I have been having problems special ordering the shoe. They have already started cutting back.

The Addiction 7 comes out in May and I can't remember what they are doing to it ): This is a good thing because if I can't remember what they are doing, it usually means the shoe hasn't been ruined!

I will do a Brooks update tonight after I look at my notes from seeing the rep.

$165.00 for ONE pair of sneakers!?! Are they crazy?

Hi Scott. My all time favorite sneakers were my New Balance, All Terrain 602's (Did you see my post from Feb. 6?). Do you know where I would be able to find them again? Or do you have any other recommendations? (No rush with the info. I won’t be able to afford a new pair of sneakers until winter, but I am always looking) :)

Trust me that price made me laugh. We are going to bring a few in, but I do not expect to sell a lot. The most important part will be how fast the new technologies trickle down.

April anne,
I wil double check, but I think the 602 is either a make up shoe (made for a particular store) or it is a shoe designed for the larger mass merchandise stores. Sometimes shoes like that are not in my catalogue. Wait a minute, I'll be right back...

O.K., as I was typing this I realized my three year old wears the replacement for your shoe! It is the 604. Give those a try if you find them.

So it is not a make up shoe but is designed for mass merchandisers. The adult model is available. If you can't find them (when you are ready) let me know and I'll see what I can do. Take care.

Your three year old is one lucky, stylin kid! :) Thanks for the info. and your offer to help. I’ll see what I can find this winter and let you know.
Have a good weekend.

I just stopped in at the Runner's High in MP to pick up another pair of Addiction (road) and the girl there said they would still be making the Trail Addiction? You've said otherwise...can you confirm?

They are making the Trail Addiction technically until the end of December. When I didn't see it in the 06 catalog I asked the rep (we have the same rep) and he confirmed it. I will double check with him on Wed (the next day I am at work) to make sure nothing has changed. Occasionally, if we complain enough the companies will continue a shoe that they had planned on dropping.
Next time try Runners' Feet in Burlingame. There is some guy there (I think he's the manager) who would be happy to break out the catalog to double check. Oh yeah, his name is Scott.

lan,

I had a chance to go by the store today and look at the catalog. The trail addiction is not in there! I am still going to call my rep tomorrow and double check, but I am pretty confidant it is a goner.
